Hungwitchin lands are private and using them without permission is trespassing. Subsistence and recreational use on Hungwitchin lands is for shareholders only. Hungwitchin and Regional Corporation lands are private property, and we have the right to exclude non-shareholders from our private property.
Under the provisions of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Hungwitchin was incorporated on Han traditional territory. Management of Han lands is focused on shareholder uses, preserving for traditional and cultural uses, providing education and employment opportunities, and potential for economic development.
